  1. Looks pretty good but there’s still a few things we can get better at.
I wonder if there’s a way to put a number to how much our games have been “easy” compared to every other team in the league.

  2. I actually ran that calc across the main teams. Unadjusted for home/ away fixtures, avg. SPI of opposition thus far looks like this: Arsenal 68.13, Tottenham 67.20, Liverpool 66.05, City 66.51. SPI’s dynamic, so I think I took the numbers from the week of the game rather than as they stand now – you’d get a different result then obviously, given some teams are tanking (eg Leicester).

I also gave a simple away weighting of 1.15 (pulled from nowhere, tbh, think I saw somewhere state that there was a 15% difference in home vs away, but dunno where that data comes from & suspect it should be more severe). As follows: Arsenal:74, Spurs:71.76, Liverpool: 70.95, City: 72.58.

  3. Why compare “Touches in the opp. penalty box” by Jesus with “final third touches” by Saka and de Bruyne? Are those two stats the same? If so, is Jesus’ number missing a digit?

    1. I’m not really comparing anything, just letting you know who is doing what. Saka facilitates play, Jesus finishes it.

  4. Thanks for this Tim! Love the old-fashioned by-the-numbers stuff. Good to see that the numbers bear out what my eyes are seeing, as well as the league position.
