Merry Christmas 2021

Merry Christmas to all of you.

Today I’m going to have dinner with my mom and Avie. We will exchange gifts and eat fried chicken, mashed potatoes, collard greens, and buttermilk biscuits (not cookies). Then we will probably watch a movie together.

That’s it, that’s all we will do today. I hope your day is at least as good as that!

  1. Merry Christmas to you and your loved ones, Tim, and to all on here. Thanks for another year of elite observation and curious commentary!

  2. Sounds lovely. I am endeavouring (failing!) to keep things low-key here, after a fairly torrid year. Much love to you and yours, mate. Merry Christmas!

  3. Merry Xmas everyone, raising a glass to you all, and everyone who’s apart from loved ones this year

  4. Happy Christmas to you, Avie and your family, Tim. Thank you for starting som many great discussions here in 2021. Hope you can continue to do so — in way more rewarding than one — in 2022.

  5. Merry Christmas Tim! Have a wonderful time with your mom and Avie! Thank you so much for creating the 7am world. Sending love to all my fellow 7AMer’s!

  6. Enjoyment comes from the simple things – hope you had a great day, and that our rip roaring Reds give us all a Boxing Day boost too.

  7. Merry Christmas a day late Tim and all of the 7AM nation. Fantastic blog. You and your writing are truly ginormous.

Just read the last couple posts and the comments. I started the season expecting 7th place but I I agree with you and now expect a 6th place finish. I believe Arteta has wanted us attacking like we have seen recently all along and its just in the last few games the players have been able to execute his game plans the way he wants. Spending $150M on players certainly helps. Hopefully more spending in the next few transfer windows. I know everything is working right now but the schedule has been in our favor since the Everton game and I still don’t think ESR, Odegaard Saka are going to be able to score enough goals to carry us into contention for the top 4. Hopefully we can spend some more money and add a couple of goal scorers in the next couple of windows.

I agree with Doc’s comment from the previous post at 4:25AM

  8. Hope y’all had an excellent Christmas Day and will bask in the warm glow of 3 additional points this evening with an additional warm fire and fine malt as optional extras.

  9. Happy Boxing Day, 7amkickoff community. Want to echo Greg, and acknowledge those who couldnt/cant be with their families. A lot of grandparents couldnt/cent be hugged right now.

Spicy Top 4 race in the 2nd halves r/n. Arsenal and Spurs winning, West Ham losing. Spurs and United have games in hand, which, if they win, would bump us down. But you know what they say about “a bird in the hand”, right?. I’d rather have the points than the games to potentially make them up.

Risky to predict finishes in sport, unless youre Michael Jordan’s Chicago Bulls. My position is simple. All things being equal (no Europe etc etc), finishing out of the Top 4 would be failure for Arsenal. From 8th with a European match schedule to 6th with none (and the league’s heaviest spending) is effectively standing still. If Arteta needed salt and bought sugar, that’s on him.

But Im loving our progress thus far, and enjoying us plucking the feathers from the Canaries.

  10. Hope everyone is having safe and happy times right now.

Xmas dinner at our home was cedar planked New Brunswick wild salmon with my home-made honey-lemon spiced marinade with fresh dill, red onion & capers, roasted root veggies, long pasta with zucchini ribbons, garlic string beans and fresh berry & Quebec maple syrup tarts, all washed down with sparkling apple cider.

The only thing to top that is the thoroughly enjoyable thrashing we dished out today. Pretty much the rest of the league have games in hand, which could sink us if those teams in the immediate vicinity of the table convert those points.

But all we can do right now, we are doing, and that is winning football games. We can’t ask for anymore.

    Peace.

  11. Oh, and Martin Ødegaard is a stud. So the next salmon won’t be from Canada but from Norway.
What a game he had today!
And Saka, and Laca, and Gabriel, and Tierney, and…

  12. Season‘s Greeting Tim and all fellow posters. Our win has certainly added extra cheer to the season. Onwards and upwards ( I’d accept position hold for the team) to one and all in 2022.
A big thank you to Tim and all the regular posters on here. What entertainment, what intellectual stimulus. Take a bow!

    1. Gunner is Gunner4life – that ran away with me Tim before I could finish, strange
