Harry Kane “I have NEVER dived in my career!” ORLY?

Harold Eddie Kane MBE has hit back at critics today and said announced that he has never dived in his career. A claim that seems demonstrably false given the fact that he was issued a yellow card for simulation against Wolves in 2018.

That dive is available here (turn the sound down)

But that’s not the only time he’s been accused of going down easily! Here’s a video I made of Kane diving versus Liverpool (that’s my voice, this poster must have taken the video off my twitter feed before the Premier League yanked it for “copyright infringement”).

And again versus Chelsea, though this one is deemed a “penalty” after VAR review because Kepa barely touched him. but he is clearly going down and makes a theatrical tumble worthy of any Broadway hit.

Last weekend against their superiors in every way (trophies, revenue, stadium, strikers, any way you slice it Arsenal are better than them) Kane attempted a dive which is a bit trickier than the others. It’s trickier because it’s harder for the officials NOT to call it.

This type of dive happens when a striker gets himself between the defender and the ball, makes a back, and falls over when he feels the defender touch him. It’s tricky because the defender is trying to go for the ball so he’s got momentum going forward and the striker is literally initiating all of the contact. If the officials aren’t paying attention, it looks like the defender causes a foul.

(Again, apologies for the music, not sure why this account is the only one with all of these videos)

This type of dive is the single most common method for strikers to draw a foul. Most strikers do this dive on the half-way line so that they can win a free kick and certain teams, like Burnley and all of the Pulis/Allardyce teams, score a lot of goals from that free kick. Kane even admits that all strikers dive like this saying “I am someone who uses his body well, which as a striker you have to do at every level. On the halfway line it’s a free kick every day of the week. In the penalty box you don’t always get it.”

I applaud Sir Kane for his bold admission that strikers are diving on the half way line in order to draw fouls. It’s time that the Premier League officials stop rewarding this behaviour with a free kick.

It’s also time for Harry Kane to just admit that he’s a diver.

  1. Kane is a serial offender but he’s quite smart at it. If you watch him, he will always move across or away from the ball and to the defender or keeper, and put his leg in to make contact.

This in the hope that refs will say “there was contact”.

With VAR these should be an automatic yellow from now on.

  2. He punnished many teams but i hope this should be a turning point for both EPL and reefs to stop it.

  3. I 100% believe Harry Kane when he says, “I have NEVER dived in my career!”
because I 100% believe Donald Trump when he says, “I am the least racist person there is anywhere in the world,”
C’mon Trump and Kane haters, you know what’s true and what isn’t, don’t you?
Let’s get on board and give Mr. Kane his due.

Great video clips, by the way. Really shows how much Failing Fake News Tim just lied about Harry Kane.

    1. There’s a bold increase of these in-your-face-opposite claims all over the world and in all any human endeavor from sport to politics and everything in between.

Some are just silly like the subject of this post but can cost teams victories, points and maybe even titles (so maybe not so silly, depending). Others are far more damaging.

We live as always, in dangerous times but this in particular is so unnecessary.

      1. I have to admit that I have no clue what you are talking about! I can’t tell what the thesis is here.

        1. People’s willingness to make blatantly, demonstrably false statements with no concern that they may be called out for lying was what I thought they meant.

    2. Couldn’t help but detect a certain amount of sarcasm to that post. However, I have yet to see or hear any proof of Trump`s “racism” but I`ve seen plenty of proof of Dirty Harry`s diving. Any chance you could link me to any evidence you have of Trump being waysist. Cheers.

        1. If you’re responding to johnno, thank you for taking the words out of my mouth. Wow.
I think it’s classic American hubris. Even on race. Shithole countries is not about black or brown people in murica, so it doesn’t even count (to take one example of the point I’m making).
          But ya, just wow.

  4. 1, He attacked Muslim “Gold Star” parents.
    2. He claimed an American judge was biased because “he’s a Mexican.”
    3. Th U.S. Justice Department sued his company not once, but twice for not renting to black people.
    4. He steadfastly refused to condemn white supremacists who campaigned for him.
    5. He questioned whether President Obama was born in the United States. This is a dog whistle of the worst kind.
    6. He encouraged the mob justice that resulted in the wrongful imprisonment of the Central Park Five.
    7. He stereotyped Jews and shared an anti-Semitic meme created by white supremacists.
    8. He condoned the beating of a Black Lives Matter protester.
    9. He expressed frustration behind closed doors with people coming to the US from “shithole countries,” He also wondered aloud why the U.S. doesn’t promote immigration from places like Norway.
    10. Reporter: “The neo-Nazis started this. They showed up in Charlottesville to protest –”
Trump: “Excuse me, excuse me. They didn’t put themselves — and you had some very bad people in that group, but you also had people that were very fine people, on both sides. You had people in that group. Excuse me, excuse me. I saw the same pictures as you did. You had people in that group that were there to protest the taking down of, to them, a very, very important statue and the renaming of a park from Robert E. Lee to another name.” In that exchange he said several anti-racist things as well but the pattern is clearly there.

What more evidence is required? There are several more examples to cite but I can’t spare the time.

    1. Anyone still debating whether Trump is a racist must’ve lived under a rock during the last decade.

What was Trump’s ground breaking policy idea that launched his political career and made him so popular with the far right supporters and the tiki torches crowd?
Oh, that’s right……..Obama was born in Kenia and possibly a Muslim.
“I have sent my investigators to Hawaii and you won’t believe what they are finding out” said then candidate Trump.

When Trump got elected I predicted facts and truth would be the biggest losers of his Presidency but it’s nothing we haven’t deserved either.
A perfect President for the reality nation of dumb a$$ voters who couldn’t vote their self interest if their lives depended on it.

      1. Kenya, where Obama was born, obviously
        reality tv nation
Probably a good idea to read your posts before pressing send , duh.

        1. Come on guys. He is the least racist person on earth. He said that himself. And I think we can all agree that the one thing Trump does consistently is to tell the truth.

    2. Even just recently he told 3 black American congresswomen to go back to the countries they came from.

      He’s not subtle.

      1. No he’s not, but that’s a good thing.
It makes it harder for his enablers to plead ignorance. Not for the lack of trying mind you.
The worst thing about Trump though, is that we are stuck with him for the next 10 to 15 years , not policy- wise of course , but through his tweets and media coverage he will have received after leaving office.

  5. I had a good laugh when Kane said that. Im also not partial to coffee 😄

All that said, Sokratis was stupid to lay a hand on him. Mike Dean would have given that. Sokratis was bad, and did not play intelligently.

  6. Death-defying denials of reality are nothing new to the human race. The victors have always written our history and sanitizing their own actions has taken on ever increasing importance as the general population steadily increased, became more educated, and finally and (from a politician perspective) worst of all, gained their own access to information with the rise of the internet. The difference in our century is the freely available fact checking, which inevitably reveals that in fact, there are no heroes, everyone makes mistakes (and tries to hide them), and that human beings derive great joy from Schadenfreude. Personally, I think fact checking has gotten out of hand in some cases. It has mushroomed into a cottage industry in its own right, with various sources trying to outdo each other or prove that they have the access to the closest version of truth. My opinion is that humans do not function well this way. We are not Vulcans. We are emotional beings and emotions have no need for facts to support, prove or disprove them. We would all be a little bit happier letting ourselves be a little bit more human in 2019.

I know he plays for Spurs and obviously I do not care especially for him or his team, but I am also aware that Harry Kane is his generation’s best striker from England. In truth, we at Arsenal would love to have a complete striker like him who, by the way, is an academy product. I don’t think he is doing anything special or different by trying to gain a competitive advantage for his team. Let’s face it, simulation in its many forms is rife in this sport and that’s not Harry Kane’s fault. He chooses to participate, but honestly he’d be a fool not to and is hardly the highest profile player to engage in this type of trickery. In short: Hate the game, not the player. Or, hate the player if you want to, it’s a free country and obviously everyone can say or think what they want. I just think it’s kind of silly to act like Harry Kane specifically is sullying the integrity of the game because he is doing what any other striker in their right mind should be doing to gain an advantage from the game the way it is currently officiated. Nobody gets penalties for staying on their feet through contact! I personally hate him because he scores in every game he plays against us and every time I see him breathing through his mouth I imagine that he must have an annoying, nasally voice and I immediately want to refer him for septoplasty and turbinate reduction.

    1. It’s a funny thing but one of the few players to unapologeticly admit to diving was Theo Walcott, and the reaction from most of the Arsenal fans I remember at the time was that he shouldn’t have admitted to it.

  7. You have the pure divers, those who fall without any contact and you have those who protect their ball very well and force contact then fall while the contact should not necessarily have put them out of balance. I like neither but I do have more respect for the second category, where Kane belongs. I guess that’s what he means when he claims he never dives. And I believe he is honest: he thinks he outsmarts the defender while respecting the laws of the game. I disagree with him: contact is part of the game and most of the contacts don’t lead, and shouldn’t lead to people falling.

  8. Kane is a direct product of English media pro white English player bias and Pochettino’s coaching, and he’s the logical consequence of what Owen admittedly had done throughout his career.

Son, Lamela, and Dele Alli are coached in exactly in the same way but just have fewer opportunities to execute the Argentine’s directives.

It’s not cheating , you see. It’s tricking you opponents into making contact , or simply coming too close where contact can be initiated.
Refs are considered opponents too in this scenario so tricking them is fair game.
