Arsene Wenger QOTD: life becomes art

All right stop, collaborate and listen, Arsene’s back with a brand new edition. Something grabs ahold of him tightly, it’s called football daily and nightly…

I apologize. I will never write again.

Wenger was handed a lifetime achievement award at Laureus last night. The presenters were Cesc Fabregas and Del Piero, but Jose Mourinho warmed the crowd up and even offered some kind words, calling Wenger “One of the best managers in history”. Wenger hugged Cesc and Del Piero, said something that made Cesc laugh, and then stepped up to the podium to deliver this acceptance speech:

“French football is honored tonight. I would like to thank Laureus first because they do a fantastic job for sport and I know how difficult that is. I would like to thank as well, the wonderful people I met during my whole career. And the less wonderful as well because they make us improve. We have some famous coaches here, they know that in my opinion life is about give and take: our job is mainly give. The moments which we take are exceptional and are worth it all. We are ready of course to work on that and give as much as we can. I would like to say as well that tonight we had many fantastic examples that sport is tremendous. I had a long career but my passion for sport is intact. My passion for human beings is intact. And as we have seen so much tonight, when human beings at their best, meets sport at its best, life becomes an art. An art that gives us great emotions and I would like to say for it is a great opportunity for me to have so many sportsmen here, I would like to thank you in the name of sport for all of the wonderful emotions you gave us through the years. Thank you very much and I wish you all the best.”

There wasn’t a sound from the crowd during his whole speech.

Publishing a second article, a transcript of his post-award interview in a little bit.

  1. Man….how I miss listening to Arsene talk. Even when we were tailing off towards the end or his tenure, I used to watch each of his press conferences because some journo would ask him about a world event or major non-Arsenal story and he would deliver incredible life lessons as answers.

    I miss hearing him talk…

  2. Did you see if during that hug Cesc pulled out the knife he’d buried in Wenger’s back all those years ago?

Hi, I make lame jokes when I don’t want to confront my emotions.
