Arshaviour

FINALLY!!!

It’s official, Andrei Arshavin is an Arsenal player, long may he play on the right side and may we never utter the name “Eboue” again except as the answer to a trivia question.

  1. Given all the problems we’ve had with injuries, yes, it’s good to have a player who is versatile.

Besides, those fellas will have to compete for a starting spot. Which also is a good thing.

  2. Hallelujah! Now to all you Gooner’s, the season ain’t done until its done, so get behind your team!! COME ON YOU GUNNER’S!!!

  3. Guys, we may have just signed our best player, and yeah, i think the board saved wenger on this one, available evidence suggest wenger would not step in and rebid and that is very much in his character, but i think the board looked at our place in the table and realised what it might mean to them and made the right choice and coughed up the extra bit. Even if he doesn’t work out – we had to sign a player with some stature, the supporters count for something. Our board, wow, maybe they good for something(but whoever made the decision to offer him half his zenit wages was a straight up w***k and could’ve scuppered the deal, but it seems he will be paid less than gallas, ade and cesc). Wenger, like guus said, doesn’t know what we’ve got. The lads have a good man to look up to and our midfield might have a forward outlet to release to before dribbling in circles and then giving it away. Yeah, it’s his ‘dream’ move like many others, but i think his real dream was to get out. Yes, eboue should be the one to give way, but on principle(the principle of stubborness) wenger might like to make a point here and keep eboue on the right and move arshavin into the middle. Make sense? course not, but well see wont we! time to mash the spuds, and overhaul villa.

A dm would’ve been nice, but i think we all knew it would be at most one player, on principle.

  4. Barnaby – I agree that we may have signed our best player although to me Rosicky & Fab are on the same level. But since he is 27 and near his peak, and has a strong history of little/no injuries, he may be “better”. However it will take him some time to adapt to Arsenal & the EPL but he will start playing well within 1-2 months. I am a very happy. Did not feel this happy since we signed Nasri.

  5. I hope we sub him in the Spurs game even if it is symbolic, like in the 80th minute or something…

  6. i’m not sure that 137 lbs is accurate…soccernet says the same thing, but they also say adebayor is 167 lbs…which i find completely unlikely

  7. TT-A, pending we get his work permit sorted the faster we throw him in the side the better, should get him settled faster and get everyone a taste of what he’s about, not really sure where he would be employed though, as we don’t have a winger on the right at the moment we could use him out there, but i also can’t help but think he would be effective in the middle as well and maybe nasri on the right? Wherever, i think we’ll all be quite pleased. Would love to see him vs the spuds, to come on late as we’re running away with it and score!

  8. Tim, CK you guys gotta shake it off, this is a good signing, yeah we laid down with some dogs and got some fleas but this player is alright and was not exorbitant, he will be good for us.
