Arsenal deadline day signings

I just wanted to be the first to tell you that the deadline has passed and Arsenal didn’t sign anyone. Man City signed Robinho for a retarded amount of money, Man United signed Bobble-kopf for a retarded amount of money, but Arsenal didn’t sign anyone for any amount of money.

Please, will the whiners form an orderly queue below?

  2. A defensive midfielder would of been great. But, I am not worried with the lack of signings Wenger has made. In all my years of supporting Arsenal, I know one thing. Trust Wenger. Theres a reason why this phrase: “Arsene knows” and “in Wenger we trust” are world renowned.

    He knows what hes doing…albeit with a shoestring budget, but nonetheless, the man knows.

  10. How can you already call Man City as a “goliath” in terms of football. Sure, they got Robinho, but how can you be so sure that he’ll click with the team? How can you know that he won’t flop, like how many big names flopped in the Prem (see Shevchenko, Malouda). Don’t call Arsenal as David because we are by no means a small club.

    Wenger bought Nasri and he plays brilliantly whereas Spurs bought a shitload of players and they expected to start the season so strong after a series of good friendlies, and they play like shit now that the season goes full-swing. Wenger always prefers quality over quantity. If he can’t see quality, he won’t buy, simple as that.

    Also, Erico, how can you say that the team do not have proper midfielders? Nasri, Fabregas, Rosicky (he’ll be fit because his knee is reinforced with something metallic). I mean even Eboue is improving. Go fuck off bceause you’re clearly not thinking before you talk.

    Don’t talk like Flamini was Arsenal’s saviour, because he’s not. If he was, AC Milan would have won their first game, even with Ronaldinho. Not to mention it was a home game too.

One thing’s for sure, if most of the Arsenal first team had been up for grabs during the transfer window they’d have been making headline news with Europe’s top clubs trying to sign them. We have all the best players already. How can any team that scores 7 goals in two games without reply be crap? No matter the opposition!   25. After reading all the comments. Lets look at the bigger pic: The Facts are: gooners by large are not happy. Why? About 3 seasons no trophy…reason: not enough experience / deapth. Ideal solution, keep what you have, just add that little depth. What happens is we loose experienced players, invest in players that will peak in 3/4 seasons time and depend on players that are after 4 seasons or so still finding their feet (Eboue) What compells AW to stick with players that clearly don’t make the grdae? Eboue / Senderos / Cygan – how much has Arsenal invested in these players before they depart with minimum output for club? We need less sentiment from AW, this is a business! We have the funds, AW does not want to use them. I blame the board, if any person at Arsenal looses plot, they MUST step in. There is no question that we all love Arsenal, our love is the reasons that stadiums are still full and we are writting these things. Think back to what was said first, second and third season without a trophy compare with today? The same story.

I think arsene is not intrested in winning any trophy this year,everybody knows we need a midfielder in the mould of viera,gilberto and flamini.Looking at the his present players, none can match the players mentioned above. For him not to sign an experience midfielder, he has once again shown to us that arsenal have become a hunting ground for other teams, where by we are not intrested in winning trphies. My advice for wenger is to move kolo toure to play the role in the midfield and pray that silvester recover in time. Wish the gunners luck

  30. Well, it looks like there a number of people who have been enjoying unrivalled succcess on Football Manager on their Playstation and are thus a far greater manager than Arsene Wenger.

    Look at the positives:
    – Man U are not looking as potent as last year (admittedly berbatov may prove to be a great signing and they will sweep all before them again
    – Chelsea failed to sign Robinho and their 3 strikers are Drogba, Anelka and Kalou. While Drogba is a great striker the other two struggle for consistency. This is also not to mention they have 5 top Centre Midfielder’s (Lampard, Ballack, Mikel, Deco and Essien) who may become disillusioned if they dont play. They also just drew with Tottenham at home and were very lacklustre in the second half.
    – Liverpool are quite frankly a joke. They have their messiah’s Gerrard and Torres injured and without them they are nowhere near as potent. They also bought Riera, obviously a world class superstar who is going to make the difference between 4th and 1st this season.
    – Tottenham – I point from 3 games and their strike force consists of Bent, Pavluychenko and Campbell, not really a top 4 strikeforce by any stretch of the imagination. They also do not have a quality DM which they desperately need.

  31. In Arsene We Trust has become a tad old lads. This season will mark another withour hardware. And the lack of depth has been painfully obvious for weeks. We are not an ambitous club. Period. I believe Wenger is one of the very best, but there is something going on here that doesn’t add up. The fans are being yanked around while the balance sheet is firmed up. The board wants a premium on those shares, I tell you. Arsenal will be sold soon. No doubt about it. We’ll get our transfers–not this year but next.

Sure enough two season ago we were behind the other members of the Big 4, but last season we found our ground and unfortunately came third, which is suprising because the team was tipped to be doomed after losing experienced players and not getting many players in return. That’s whats been said now and I doubt it will happen. Lower your expectations, idiot. Go support another club if you’re crying.

  39. He did the right thing not to buy as he has already invested heavily in the Arsenal youth. When are they going to have their chance if he keeps buying because it is the popular thing to do so? Give youth a chance as the saying goes. The only thing I wasn’t comfortable with is Arsene promising to get in more ”bodies” before the the deadline. He musn’t treat the fans as kids and that’s what irks me.

    I’m a Gunner for life and no matter my opinions on what the club needs in terms of players, it’s time to get behind the manager and players.
    Like it or not its done.
    I thought that with the exit of 3 players we could have done with at least 1 more, and yes in the defensive midfielder department.It didn’t happen.
    I have to believe that the Boss believes that Song, Diaby and Denilson and even Eboue can manage between them to play alongside Cesc.
    Wenger has splashed in January before and that may be the plan again. Regardless i’ll be supporting and buying a shirt and happy that if my club drops out of the top four they wont be doing a Leeds.
    It gunna be tough year with hard fought games but as long as we play like Arsenal i’ll keep supporting. And as long we play in the style to which I’ve become accustomed, win lose or draw then we’re still the best team in the premier league irrespective of who gets the trophy’s.

Line ups dont win the games,players who perform well and excell do.Should the selection that we have on the field not win any games due to performance,then we have an issue,but,after an excellent performance at home,the way forward is to build not pull apart and try new structures.We always look at team line ups and ask what will the end result be,”we should win 6-0″,but we lose due to not playing as a team?Look at Manchester,Chelsea,Liverpool….What scares you…the line up?Shame(cos you’ll are crap),remember…you cannot win a game if you havent got the ball…?
