"He will not be an Arsenal player next season – and you can print that."

Who Arsene Wenger Isn’t Buying

Vincent Kompany is not going to be an Arsenal player next season. Yes, Wenger loves him, he’s even been following him for 10 years, but Kompany will NOT be an Arsenal player next season. Rumor is that Arsenal may buy Spanish star Raul Albiol because he’s a bargain but Wenger is insistent that he doesn’t need any help in defense:

There is nobody I need for my team’s defensive department

I think most Arsenal supporters would disagree with that statement but it’s still June and let’s wait to see how he parses that statement out over the next few months. It could be “well we didn’t “need” anyone but we “wanted” XYZ” or something like that.

Wenger did reveal that Arsenal are very interested in “several” Belgian players. Marouane Fellaini perhaps? He’s tall, a good header of the ball, plays in defensive midfield, and considered a good “box to box” player. I don’t know, like I said, we’ll have to see how this all parses out over the next few weeks.

Last year’s surprise signing of the season, Bacary Sagna, is being featured over at the dot com this week and there’s even a competition to win a DVD of the season in review. Click on over there and win yourself a DVD!

Until Arsenal actually buy someone, all we have is…

Euro 2008

Cesc is happy on the bench, the French team sucks, Djourou wishes he could have gotten a chance, and the whole tournament is boring me to death.

Sign someone Arsene!

World Cup Qualification

While the USA cruised to an 8-0 destruction of Barbados this weekend, Brazil failed to dispatch 10 man Paraguay. My sources inform me that Sepp Blatter’s head exploded at this news because he couldn’t blame the “foreigners” (BRAZILIANS) for the Brazilian’s loss. I do think, however, he will try to find a way to show that his quota system would have prevented this defeat. Give him time.

  1. Le Boss would never admit he wanted to bid on a player. I think the only reason he has commented that Nasri “interests” him is because they have an arrangement worked out. I’m guessing (aka making up crap) that Nasri wanted to chance to show what he could do in hope that France made it to the finals and he was able to play a part in that. I’d be will to further guess that Wenger was either smart enough to know better or enough of a gentleman to allow him to do so. I doubt we’ll know his transfer targets until the transfer window closes – and even then we will only know about the successful transfers. He’s always kept his card very close and I doubt this year will be any different.

Off topic (but one very near and dear to your heart) – I found this and thought you would like to see it. Foreign owners to appear before Parliament It sounds like a train wreck waiting to happen.

    Great post as usual.
